Point Pleasant Borough
Environmental Commission

Boy Scouts

The Environmental Commission works extensively with the Borough's Boy Scout Troops with respect to Eagle Projects, various community projects, and other efforts in tune with the theme of Scouting.

Recently, the Commission has seen three Scouts do Eagle Projects in cooperation with the Borough. In 2006, Eagle Scout Brian Parks, of Troop 16, updated the town's Natural Resource Inventory. The current version may be accessed here. In the fall of 2007, Nick Binaco, also of Troop 16, built the osprey platform in the Nellie Bennett Marshes, partially with funding though a grant from Verizon. In the spring of 2008, Tom Szymanski augmented the project by organizing and overseeing the construction of an Observation Deck at the end of Bayberry Lane.

In addition, the Commission works with area troops to organize cleanups of the Borough's various Recreational Parks and Properties.
